Assign F11 to one of the buttons on the back and hit it after game launches. Works great after becoming visible. No need for external keyboard.
Text is small but legible.
Works perfectly out of the box, only fullscreen is a bit wonky and not recommended.
Fullscreen misaligns the game interface and mouse by 1/2 an inch, most likely because of my top bar
It works just as well as it does on Windows, just don't maximize the window and resize it manually.
On windowed fullscreen the mouse position is skewed, if you manually resize it works just as well as it does on windows.

I used the default proton experimental option of steam, didn't try any of the stable versions so it should work for anyone even if they know nothing about tinkering.
Unable to play with the Steam Deck by itself as the onscreen keyboard has no function keys.
Plugging in an external keyboard then pressing F11 makes it fullscreen and playable.
Works fine with Proton 7.0-2, no problems whatsoever. Savegames sync over from linux and I picked up right where I left off on Windows.
Mouse alignment is off in windowed mode (button hitbox is raised by about 1/2 the button height).
Fullscreen is fine. Press F11 to toggle fullscreen.
In fullscreen, the game is always on top, so you can't easily alt-tab. Use workspaces / virtual desktops instead so you don't have to toggle fullscreen to alt-tab.
