Perhaps the mouse click issues are related to my use of wayland and that the game is running under xwayland.

If you want to play this game on any OS you want to install the HF patch from github. There is a magnet link under the patreon download link
Tinker Steps:Custom Proton: GE-Proton7-20, protontricks
You must open the winecfg and under the 'Libraries' tab add winhttp. If you miss this step the HF patch will not load properly. Protontricks will do this easily.
Game runs great! If you are going for no mods you literally just download and run. However most people want the HF patch and English so I would say it requires some minor tinkering. If you are using GNU/Linux you should easily be able to do what is needed with protontricks or using Lutris if you don't want to run the game on your steam profile.
