Runs with no issues on Steam Deck default configuration and finished the story from start to end with minimal note-taking.
FPS fluctuating should be normal because there are static text and image scenes where it doesn't make sense to be rendering above single digit FPS.
However, if you intend to do note-taking as well as lots of flips between scenes to solve the underlying mystery, it would be better to do it on an actual desktop rather than the Steam Deck, since it's not ideal typing lots of notes out.

Use Steam-Play-None as the compatibility tool, and everything works great.
The FPS count is wildly inaccurate, but everything seems to draw without delay.

Works natively out of the box
Played from beginning to end without any problems.
As least as it stands, use Lutris from Desktop mode and pick Wine as the runner. It's early days, but no crashes after 30 mins of play.
Runs using Lutris with Wine as the runner
As the other poster indicated, if you run the game through Proton or the Native Linux version in SteamOS, it will typically freeze with only audio playing within a minute or two.
This will crash quickly in SteamOS with Proton and Linux runtimes. Use Lutris in Desktop Mode with a Wine runner and at least in the early going it appears stable. Will update if I experience crashes there.
FPS fluctuate wildly constantly, even reaching single digits. It's not too bad most of the time, since there are a lot of static images and text, but it can feel noticeably sluggy and unresponsive.
Game constantly freezes completely after a random time (only the audio continues playing). I don't think I've managed to play a session longer than 30 minutes at best, but usually it happens much earlier, sometimes even just after a minute or two.
While this report is for the native version, it behaves the same when forcing Proton (7.0.3 and below, Experimental or GE 7-22).
