STEAM_COMPAT_CONFIG="" %command%
(This fix was originally by Mominjo on ProtonDB for WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship, another game using the KT Engine. Tried it on RimS and worked like a charm!)
Going into Desktop Mode on the Steam Deck. Using Protontricks (please install from app discovery in desktop mode, search 'protontricks'. Look up about Protontricks on Steam Deck if still unsure). This is to change the Windows version to Windows 7. Adding a Launch Command in the game prop
After installing RiMs Racing, go into Desktop Mode .
Open Protontricks , select RiMs Racing then OK .
(After a few moments), select select the default wineprefix then OK .
Now select Run winecfg then OK .
We are now in the Wine Configuration window for RiMs Racing and should be in the Application tab (select it if not).
At the bottom, change windows versions to Windows 7 then Apply .
Now find RiMs racing in your Steam Library, click Manage , then Properties .
Scroll down to Launch Options , then post the below command into the box.
Needed to use Protontricks to use Windows 7 compatability and also a Launch command for the game to recognise the gamepad.
Visto che il gioco vede il deck con mouse e tastiera ho creato un layout personalizzato con i tasti essenziali per giocare e funziona bene, usando controller ps5 con steam input disattivato oltre a funzionare bene puoi giocare in multiplayer offline.
Game launches but doesn't detect Steam Deck as a gamepad.
No matter what version of Proton used or enabling/disabling steam input, it always sees the Steam Deck as a keybaord and mouse. Even connecting an Xbox controller to the Steam Deck doesn't get detected by this game.
Doesn't detect Steam Deck as a controller, only as a keyboard and mouse despite troubleshooting.
RIMS had controller detection issues in the past prior to the 1.5 update. As many users report could be fixed by disabling steam input however this doesn't still doesn't make a difference on the Steam Deck for some reason. Even tried pairing an Xbox controller that RIMS on windows detects instantly but even when detected by the steam deck for SteamOS navigation, RIMS still doesn't see the deck as a controller or the paired Xbox one controller either. Makes the game unplayable as you lose analog throttle and bake.
Controller was not detected. After disabling Steam Input it worked.
Controller wasn't detected in-game, which seems to be a game issue with a pinned developer thread on it on Steam discussions. The fix stated there did not solve the issue.
Tried the game on release and it would crash upon opening. Tried it again now, it plays well with no issues outside of the controller. Using mesa-git.
Flatpak install of Steam and community build of Proton with 'pressure vessel' disabled
flatpak install com.valvesoftware.Steam.CompatibilityTool.Proton
Also had to increase ulimit https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/HowToEsync.md
I went through the tutorial when the game launched, haven't played any more yet.
