Sound Desync and Framerate Issues
I booted up the game, and was greeted with an opening cinematic whose audio and video were out of sync, with the audio being behind by a few seconds, and when the video cut out, it abruptly cut off the audio too. I was brought to the main menu, but it's frame-rate was so low that I refused to proceed further.
EAC Launch Error: Failed to load anti-cheat module.
Easy Anti-Cheat appears to be broken now, and the game will not load.
DRM Failurd
The program starts, but throws a "DRM Failure" error upon attempted login.
Due to online functionality being disabled, one of the core features of the game will not be enjoyable for most players
If you aren't bothered by occasional stutters caused by loading new areas, you should be fine.
When loading new areas of the current 'area' the performance took a great hit, however was otherwise functional.
Login Menu 100% Black or White
This version of proton caused the menu to become 100% white after it was initially black. I was unable to interact with the UI in any way that I could discern, and could not launch the game.
%command% --disable-gpu
Problem
- Microphone input quality would degrade over time, according to others in game. The quality would also be terrible after initial startup until using the solution listed bellow.
Equipment
- Neewer NW-800 Microphone.
- Behringer U-Phoria UM2 USB Audio Interface.
Solution
- Plugging in and unplugging the USB-AI solved solved the problem.
The game's graphics cannot be handled by a GPU (hence the --disable-gpu flag). Attempting to do so will result in a login screen with a 100% white or black UI, with no discernible UI elements. Because of this, you can neither login, nor start the game.
None of the issues that I had were issues that I remember not experiencing in Windows.
If you're not somebody who's spent a crap ton of money on a top (or even mid) tier rig, you're somebody who really likes the game, or are just somebody who doesn't mind flooring all of the graphics settings in order to get a decent frame-rate, as long as you've got a decent CPU, you will be able to play the game alright.
But, the fact that the game's graphics currently cannot be handled by a graphics card, is a slap in the face to what is most gamers' biggest investment; their GPU.
On the flip-side, that does make this a pretty good option for somebody who wants to play a game while their GPU is busy with something else, like mining or rendering.
It would say that it was launching, but then the play button would turn green again.
The requirement to regularly (and frequently) restart the game is going to be turnoff for most people.
When trying to switch from fullscreen to windowed, the game still treated the interface as fullscreen (the bottom and right side were cut off) until I restarted the game. It also froze and I had to restart the game.
This could be chalked up to framerate degredation, and not input lag itself.
The game starts up relatively smoothly, however after about thirty minutes, the framerate begins to slow, and after a few hours it's unplayable and requires a program restart. This is both in fullscreen and windowed.

You would not actually be able to play it.
When loading new tiles, the game would freeze, and the duration of the freeze was proportional to the size of the tile.
When in a mission, after a bit of time the game would crash. I believe this is to do with the in-game AI.
