Worked 100% fine but very minor controller issue
Controller would sometimes just stop working and require a restart, but it might not be a Linux issue and instead just an issue with how the game handles two players using a gamepad when there's a keyboard being unused.
Perfect playing experience
Only a few strange red marks on my cursor
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Lighting issue on all metallic objects, some missing textures
Steam Cloud did not function
Laggier than Windows
Two of the game's fonts were very small, I managed to fix one of them by modifying the file at <gamedir>/garrysmod/resource/SourceScheme.res
but the other is still too small and I can't find what file its sizing is stored in.
Flawless on Native and Proton
Have seen other reports that the Native build doesn't give the achievement for reaching the top of the mountain. Haven't done it myself but I switched to Proton just to be sure, no issues with either besides possibly that issue.
Update: Native version is fine, proton is better
The Native build does not appear to support refresh rates >60Hz, also have seen other reports that the Native build doesn't give the achievement for reaching the top of the mountain. For these reasons I would recommend Proton over Native.
Worked perfectly out of the box
Played solo and local multiplayer with the other player using a controller and both were flawless
Microphone did not work in the lobby, was fine ingame
It's annoying but personally it's not a big deal to me since I usually only play with friends, and it still works perfectly normal once you start the game.
Game loaded, but most textures were missing and crashed shortly thereafter
Fails to load into world
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Able to run the game and loads, but when it starts spawning me in, the game crashes. Launch options remedies this and the character creation screen appears, but interacting with it in any way crashes the game.
Played through the whole game on the Native build, VERY minor graphical issue that I didn't notice while playing that Proton fixes.
Native build has strange lines that don't seem to be fully smooth. It's hard to explain but they are very minor and go away when using Proton.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Pressing esc to quickly makes all walls and minor objects disappear
Input was delayed or ignored, could be system hardware
On load screen game sometimes crashes
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Delayed or ignored inputs makes game frustrating to play
