You get the game running by renaming the movies folder. For Multiplayer you have to do the dll tinkering. Check this thread for the steps you have to take.
Using a media key or minimizing/maximizing the game leads to a scroll bug. In game the courser just scrolls to the top left permanently. This can only be fixed by restarting the game (this problem was also common in AoE 2 HD)
Occasionally crashed during loading screens. Sometimes even that severe, that I had to restart my whole system.
Singleplayer works perfectly. Multiplayer doesn't run stable. It crashes minutes or even seconds after starting a game. No error message or something, you are simply back in main menu.
Works out of the box. Even Multiplayer works fine.
Just tried out Multiplayer and it just runs. Nothing more to say.
Crashes after intro finished. Also the intro is stuttering
Followed the tweaks that are mentioned in the previous reports. Everything worked fine after that.
Doesn't run since Bannerlod version 1.5.4 was released
I tried different Proton versions as well as various GE versions. The result is always the same: the launcher is visible for 0.1 seconds, then it crashes.
Also tried to opt in the beta branch 1.5.5. But it still doesn't work with any Proton version.

Sometimes after starting the game you can't select anything in the main Menu. Restarting the game fixes that.
Leaving a settlement sometimes freezes the games for some seconds.
Only got the game to run using the fix provided by @Darth Banana.
The Linux port was running really unstable for me with constant crashes and what not. With Proton I don't have any of those issues or anything at all. It runs perfectly.
