Hylics plays perfectly!
Windowed mode is incredibly tiny with no visible way of changing it for me. Fullscreen works fine.
Played through the entire game on fullscreen without a problem. Used Proton Next 7.0-6 with no tinkering.
However, I will note that screenshots act bizarrely. Taking a screenshot causes the screen to freeze with the top portion mirroring itself on the bottom. Pressing F1 and then ESC returns the screen back to normal. Not harmful, but strange. Not significant for normal gameplay, as you'll only encounter this when taking screenshots.
Katamari Damacy REROLL plays perfectly with Proton, so the only frustrations you'll experience is from the game's difficulty itself.
Proton
I'm shocked at how well this game plays, even on my old PC. It even loads levels faster than my Nintendo Switch! (How pathetic.) No stuttering, slow-downs, crackles... just a really good optimised game.
Btw, even the dreaded 'windowed mode tutorial' wasn't even that bad. I don't know if it's due to being on Mint, or my current Stream settings, or if I just have a smaller monitor than most people, but my windowed mode was not the stamp-sized thing that most people have complained about. Mine was rather large, almost fullscreen sized.
Slight slowdown during outdoor weather and some crackling.
Slight crackling with certain songs, but not all. Mainly I noticed it with the Spirit's Eve Festival song and Song of Feathers (Emily's Theme) for some reason.
There sometimes is some slight slowdown when there's a lot of activity outdoors while leaves, rain, or snow is happening. Also, a slight freeze occurs when multiple machines finish producing products at the same time. The latter also happened in Windows, so this could be my GPU's problem.
Playing natively, I noticed some slight slowdown if there were a lot of activity outdoors (Junimo harvesting/multiple machines finished) while leaves, rain, or snow is occuring. Also noticed that the game will freeze when multiple (over 20) machines have finished producing items on the same screen, but returns to normal a second later. (Albeit, the latter issue could be with my GPU, as it also did this on Windows.)
Slight crackling occurs at random with specific songs, so far Song of Feathers (Emily's Theme) and Spirit's Eve Festival. Nothing game breaking and is overall still enjoyable.
A much better Stardew experience after a few updates, even with mods loaded in!
Slight crackling with music, especially with lots of sprites on screen. Ambience is fine.
Compared to my last review two months ago, there have been significant improvements to the graphical issues I had before. The slowdown while weather is happening: Gone. The screen tearing when in fullscreen: Fixed. This is even with all of my mods being loaded in, a few of them being graphical, so I'm very impressed. The only issue that lingers is the music crackling (all music, not just the ones I mentioned before). However, it's not as noticable as I remember, as I only heard the crackling while wearing earbuds/headphones. Perhaps it might be an issue on my end, but it still isn't too bad. Great game! Go play it!
The Binding of Isaac (plus Afterbirth DLC) works perfectly!
No issues what-so-ever playing this game natively. Everything works just as well as it did on Windows. Not a single slow down, even with tons of projectiles and enemies on screen.
