On MVCIB Menu has some lag on css, I don't know if on windows too.
I only played 1 match but it was perfect, I just needed to put any region and 1+ connection to find someone.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond mod runs flawlessly on Linux, multiplayer seems to be working fine too with no need for adjustments or additional setup.
too much tinkering needed since it runs in windows OS and Linux nees to run these windows based components using 3rd party apps like wine
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" %command%
This might or might not work for you but for those who experienced FATAL ERROR when launching, try this fix
compatability: proton experimental set launch options: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" %command% ///this bypasses winmm.dll
make sure to also install UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe in redist folder (Marvel.Vs.Capcom.Infinite.Deluxe.Edition.v2757512/Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Deluxe Edition/Engine/Extras/Redist/en-us/) I use wine to install the executable to its destination folder.
This works for me, let me know if it works for you too!
added: [SystemSettings] r.VSync=0 to "/MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE/MVCI/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini" to get the game running at 60fps as the game was locked to 50fps before i did this
ONLINE DOES WORK I was able to play with friends that where running both SteamOS and Windows on my Linux pc. I joined using room search and putting in the Lobby ID to join the room and once I was in it I had no problems playing games.
Outside of the vsync issue I have had no issues with this game or the MVC:I and Beyond mod
Going fullscreen forces it to always be on top, not great when you want to access invites
Online does NOT work. I tried every version of Proton I had and it always immediately crashed when I tried to accept an invite
Works great for offline, not so much online
Works out of the box!
It works fine for single player or local multiplayer with a little tweak regarding vsync. The game crashes when trying to play online.
Game's has an auto vsync mechanism, and it is laggy (at least for Nvidia). The game stutters a lot when it is enabled. To disable it, you have to edit the file "/home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE/MVCI/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini" and add the following lines:
[SystemSettings] r.VSync=0
If you need vsync, you can create a file named "dxvk.conf" in the folder "/home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE/MVCI/Binaries/Win64" with the following content:
dxgi.syncInterval=1 dxgi.numBackBuffers=3
Then it will run smoothly.
Game runs nearly perfect offline, but online always crashes. People need online play for fighting games.
Deactivate Vsync in rEngine.ini on the game's folder
Online always crashes, which makes online modes unplayable.
Game runs out of the box flawlessly. If you have stuttering, disable vsync on rEngine.ini on the local game's file.
Recent report: Works pretty much out of the box with current Proton forks. (Used Proton Experimental in my case)
Launches out of the box, but with bad stuttering unless "r.VSync=0" is added to Engine.ini under [SystemSettings]. If experiencing screen tearing on Nvidia hardware, check "Enable Full Composition Pipeline" in Nvidia X Server Display Configuration.
Out of the box. Removing ESYNC seems to reduce the stuttering... I had also to disable VSync to prevent screen tearing. The config file is located at /home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE/MVCI/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini. You have to add this lines in the end of the file:
[SystemSettings] r.VSync=0
Sorry, bronze report below was tested on Proton 4.11-1, not 4.2-9.
Launches and is technically playable, though there is a an issue with the frame rate dropping every 2 seconds which makes playing the game very uncomfortable. Full controller support noted.
Tried everything; disabling esync, disabling D3D11, use Wine D3D. No success launching the game.
Does not launch. But it runs out of the box using Lutris with the WineSteam runner (wine version: tkg-protonified-4.6)
Steam notes the game "running" for a moment before it crashes quietly. No game window or error message appears at any point.
