denuvo may block you for some time if you try to many different proton versions
DSW Update 1.20 fixed video playback, this is now fully playable.
Using all the latest updates (including Steam client updates, which are improving Steam Play compatibility with Proton 5.13), this game is now fully playable. The player was replaced with a ffmpeg based player, which seems to work fine with Proton.
Latest Update (Client, Linux Runtime or Runtime - Soldier) fixed starting the game, still no videos (2020-10-25)
Videos not working, will start working probably soon when media foundation patches are evolving.
Game is not working for me with Proton 5.0-10rc nor Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST. So I guess the Steam updates fixed starting the game. If you see a black screen, hold F to skip the videos. You can play the Levels, but you're missing out most of the story right now.
Grey screen for a few seconds, then drop to desktop
Tried Proton 5.13-1, Proton 5.0-9, Proton 5.9-GE-6-ST... but no luck on my system. Maybe nVidia related, as the other report has an AMD card and the game seems to work there.
While Steam's default proton version is unable to play the videos, Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST works perfect.
Except for the cutscenes and tutorial videos, the game is working like a charm.
Videos are not playing. This means that cutscenes will render as "black screen".
One needs to hold the "f" key to skip the cutscenes.
Blank screen when I start a game
I was using Proton 5.13-1 and was able to get the initial menu.
Game starts but all I get is a black screen
Tried different proton versions (5.9 GE and 4.11) and they did not work either.
Runs bad out of the box especially while fighting
On High or Ultra presets the game first runs with ~40-50FPS but when controlling the drones and fighting it drops to constant ~8FPS Sure the game is still WIP but that is significant
I used the Demo version for this "Test"
