Linux tutorial how to get this game to work on linux. the game is not starting is caused by the missing d3d8.dll library and 2gb ram limit fix patch that is required for any windows version newer then windows XP also. You need to add it manually in protontricks https://www.protondb.com/app/3960 First you need to apply the blurry textures patch download it from here: http://hawkdawg.com/rrt/rrt3/rrt3_main.php make sure you override the engine.cfg file in the /Steam/steamapps/common/Shattered Union/Data/Configuration/ folder Then you start protontricks from your linux start menu and add d3d8.dll manually to the wine prefix. select steam app shattered union 3960 (click)---> OK click select the default wineprefix (click)----> Ok click Run winecfg (click) -----> Ok when the wine configuration opens click the Library tab type d3d8.dll (click) ----> add (click) -----> Ok
you are limited to the resolutions supported by the game it dous not support 16:9 only 4:3 resolutions. you can play in window mode or use gamescope to fix this.
Doesn't launch with any version of Proton. Most give a "OpenPIMipmapChain" error.
Only works with proton 4.2-9
I had to do protontricks 3960 videomemorysize=512
to make this stop crashing at launch.
It had worked on a previous version of proton (where I played for several hours). Upgrading the prefix from 4.2 to 4.11 had issues, but wiping it and making a fresh prefix fixed them. No tweaks were required. Oddly, this doesn't work on a system that I have that uses Nvidia hardware and 64GB of RAM.
Crashes on start. Displays program error - OpenPIMipmapChain: Unable to locate a valid DDS, JPG or TGA file for 'SolidColors'. An old issue the game had with systems more than 2GB of RAM that I could not figure a way around.
