DO NOT change the quality other than HIGH as it will generate heavy "shimmer" artifacts. I get pretty much solid 40fps with these setting.
Tested on steam deck OLED. Burger menu settings: TDP Limit OFF; FPS locked at 40; FSR OFF. In-game Settings: FSR on QUALITY; Graphics on HIGH; FPS on UNLIMITED; VSYNC ON; Full screen @1280x720
Minor dips between 30-40fps in some detailed areas. Pretty much solid 40fps.
The game plays very well. A few tweaks from the devs will make it perfect. The only downside is the price of the full game lol.
The demo worked well overall, and gameplay went smoothly, aside from a few minor issues that were easily forgiven.
Some voice lines would get cut off prematurely and other voice lines would be spoken over the top of them, particularly when in battle and opening treasure chests. I don't have a way to test it, so this may be a matter of game design, rather than a Linux exclusive problem.
Water textures in Rhata Harbor would occasionally visibly glitch and stutter, presenting a gray pixellation pattern of artifacts that overlayed other visual elements on the screen (plants, structures, etc.) Particularly noticeable when looking out into the distance of the ocean with some camera angles and positions around the town.
I used a wired Xbox 360 controller playing via the docking station and it worked pretty well. The only issue I had was the options menu felt too sensitive to even slight left/right movements, causing options to be changed accidentally when just trying to scroll up/down the menu. The "reset to defaults" setting was very helpful for this.
Medium Amount of Stuttering, otherwise same as Windows
Medium Stuttering when moving the camera around and when cut-scenes load assets.
Has native support for Linux Kernel DualSense without SteamInput. Change Controller Buttons to Type 1 in the options if using a DualSense Controller.
