PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
2 hours into the game, I got to the point in the "upside-down world" where the appearing platforms were invisible. I looked this game up on the ProtonDB here and found other comments saying to enter the PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 command launch option. I tried a different version utility and then the game wouldn't load. I kept trying different options, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. Then the game started working again. I am not sure if it's because it's now no longer fullscreen, but now that the game is working properly, I don't want to change anything. It looks like my problems are over.
Works perfectly on Steam Deck.
Preview SteamOS 3.5
Runs perfectly! Imprtant Note: With AMD card Mesa 23.1 or higher has to be installed or Text boxes will be missing. NVidia is fine.
Runs perfectly! With modern Proton the direct3d flag is not needed. Imprtant Note: With AMD card Mesa 23.1 or higher has to be installed or Text boxes will be missing. NVidia is fine (see my old report)
Unable to get past intro screen due to text boxes not loading causing the game to hang
There was a bug with a specific (survival critical) texture layer not rendering, but DXVK patched that recently.
Any attempt to switch between fullscreen and windowed, including through settings, seems to result in a freeze. Alt+tabbing does the same. Better to run it windowed, I think.
There was previously a bug that prevented region 2's disappearing platforms from rendering, but the people at DXVK fixed it. Runs smooth.
I'm only at region two, but the deal-breaker bug has been fixed. (It involved a depth testing issue for DXVK, which was patched after a proper bug report.) Seems to run fine now!
Progression is impossible as of region 2, with the area randomized so that even YouTube walkthroughs can't really help.
Disappearing platforms are completely invisible in a randomized area. Aside from ludicrous trial and error, there's no way to progress past this.
Fullscreen causes periodic strange freezes and mistiling
Fullscreen is almost unusable
This is down as Deck compatible aside from not natively supporting its resolution; this is incorrect. An entire layer of survival-critical textures do not render! You don't even realize it until you can't progress further without them.
Dialog does not appear leaving you directionless
Dialog boxes do not appear at all
Dialog boxes do not appear
There are significant issues making progression nearly impossible without trial and error.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
Appearing platforms in top-down segments render under the background, making progression nearly impossible.
I've attempted some tweaks that helped others in their reports, such as PROTON_USE_D3D=1 or switching to an older version, but nothing seemed to fix this issue.
The game runs but with missing textures its unplayable.
Ingame textures for some menus are missing, intro scene is not working
Menus missing texture, intro dialog missing every dialog box is missing
I only played a little bit but, no dialogue box and some missing menu buttons makes this unplayable. I tried using the flag PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 but it crashes my game on start, tried several proton versions and proton-ge but the textures are always missing. I dont recommend to play this on linux unless they fix these problems
The only issue is a design one, and that is that it uses Nintendo character placement where A and B are flipped.
Alt+Tabbing can cause the game to close itself sometimes.
Had to disable Steam Input to get my DualSense to be detected. When binding triggers, you have to very gently tap them otherwise the trigger will bind to multiple inputs.
The game works nearly perfectly, if set to direct3d mode (enable PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 flag)
Game works well at first. However, it is highly recommended to enable PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1. Else there are some problems with switching to full screen. Also some textures are missing which can make the game practically unplayable (some platforms do not appear but the ground keeps being black)
Switching back from full screen to windowed would freeze the game. However, PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 option solves the problem.
Controller setting was too sensitive with Logitech F310
