Easy to get into but high skill cieling game.
Ran like a charm, no tinker needed. Do be aware though that the game lacks cloud save supports, so if you've played on a previous device you need to copy your save data from the "winsave" folder from the installation folder.

Ran into a minor issue: Game minimized/lost focus when an achievement was unlocked. It's not much of an issue when it's achievement popups, but if it happens with other Steam notifications it could become pretty annoying.

Works well on Proton Experimental. When I used Proton 8.0-3, I got stuck on a loading screen trying to play online.
Could not get back into the game after alt-tabing
I got stuck on a loading screen after a match with one of my friends, but this only happened once during a 2-hour play session.
Use Proton Experimental.

Small bug with keyboard input, but for button mashers, combo spammers, and those who are willing to deal with it the game is still fun.
Small issue with pressing certain keys at the same time. I use keyboard though, controller may not have this issue. However, using a keyboard and not being able to do certain buttons at the same time makes some combos impossible. Could be my cheap hardware or it could be keyboards in general, or maybe trying a different proton or a steam command argument might fix it.
If you're a combo master looking to play this game like an elite on Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, or Tekken then I recommend looking at getting that input issue fixed. As I said before it could just be my setup. Any of the following might have an impact:
- Different keyboard
- Using a controller
- Trying different protons
- Trying a Steam launch command
- Different Distro
- Missing/Updated/Alternate packages
And there could be more. But if you're the average joe who likes Type Moon or Tsukihime it's not all that bad. Find a different combo to spam in that combo's place and it'll still be fun enough.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
None of the videos have any audio. In-game sound works perfectly, however.
So, adding PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to launch opens actually has the game launch properly. I'm presuming the videos in the 'Movie' folder have something to do with it, but the game will not launch without that option, at least for me. After that, everything runs flawlessly save for the intro video having no sound. I'd presume the other videos are silent as well.

Crashes on start. Tried a few versions of regular and GE Proton to no avail.
An update a while back completely broke the game for me. Even removing the files in the Movie folder does fuck all. Pretty frustrating as the game actually ran perfectly before whatever the devs did.
Played a few hundred of hours without issues.
Don't skip intros when playing online. It's not Linux's fault, it's the game's fault.

Removed the videos in the Movie folder
Without tinkering, the game crashes at launch. This is the case since the last update of the game; it did not have this problem before.
Tried Proton Experimental, 7.0-6 and GE 7.51 and not of them work.
The game boots up, it shows the logos and then imediately crashes every single time.
Runs pretty well with proton
Game starts in Fullscreen and stretches the game to fit the screen. Choose Windowed. You will have black bars but the game won't be a stretched mess.
The game does NOT have Steam Cloud Saving so switching between the Steam Deck and any other machine that uses your account, will not use the same save data.
Slowdown during particular stages or just randomly
Game assets were designed for 720p so playing on a 1080p screen or anything higher will actually downgrade the visuals.
Works perfectly. Doesn't crash in between fights like it did with previous Proton versions. I used Proton 7.0-5 Flatpak community build.
gamemoderun %command%
Crashes in the loading scene for a second fight.
I used Proton 7.0-3 flatpak community build. The game is playable but will crash after the first fight when loading a new "choose your character" scene. If I recall correctly Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code suffers the same problem.
Most of the game has no problems aside from Time Attack, Score Attack and activating some achievements.
Sometimes the game slows down during battle
Time Attack and Score Attack loops Boss Rush cutscene infinitely
Slow down sometimes, but aside from that, it's very playable.
Time Attack and Score Attack infinitely loop
Works perfectly out of the box
Proton 7.0 causes crash. 6.3-8 works fine
It crashed on the Steam Deck, which I found confusing as I had it run on my PC (Pop_OS!) before. Turns out the game doesn't work with the new Proton 7 version. Forcing Proton 6.3-8 makes the game work on the Deck. Volvo pls fix.
Works flawlessly out of the box
Originally I plugged in my Brook universal Fighting Board and it auto detected Linux and started in Direct input mode. This mode does not work with this game because for some reason LT and RT just don't work. When I force Xbox mode with the controller Steam compatibility takes over and my Arcade sticks work fine.
Considering the specs of my computer I wouldn't expect any performance issues for a 2D fighter, yet with some maps I experience slowdown, which doesn't seem right. Since I only really play with friends we can just avoid those maps and everything is fine. I also noticed some amount of screen-tearing that I don't get in windows.
Overall it's a good experience but it still needs some ironing even though it has a Platinum rating.

If you are interested in versus matches and online matches alone, then yes it's playable and enjoyable.
Couldn't load my Windows cloud save.
Some random crashes. I don't know if they're related to Proton.
Dialogue scenes and VS scenes looping in single player (not able to play or quit the game)
My issue is with Dialogue scenes and the intro video. I can't play single player modes because of the cutscenes loop bug.
Flawless
The game runs out of the box with videos playing and everything fine. It feels like a native game. Also, it's really good!
Works flawlessly; you could mistake it as native
DXVK doesn't work. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 is required.

Everything works with Proton 6.3-7 out of the box
Had to disable Steam Controller mapping. Native Logitech game contoller worked fine.
The opening cinematic didn't show before, but works since Oct 11th patch.
Works out of the box both online and offline. Recognized my 8bitdo Pro 2 instantly.

Game ran fine for me using Proton Experimental
Using Proton Experimental the game ran fine - including showing the intro movie. Online was a little glitchy at times - but I think that's the game right now and not proton.

6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Any type of video file (eg. opening cinematic) will fail to load properly on out of box proton, switch to latest GloriousEggroll to fix this issue
Experienced issues with my fightstick inputs not coming through properly when in PS3 mode, changing to XBox mode rectifies this. This might be a Steam issue, however.
Occasional seemingly random crashes, unsure if related to Proton or not.
Attempting to connect to other players rooms tended to freeze the game, however hosting my own worked flawlessly.

Proton-6.18-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
It doesn't seem to work with my Windows cloud save.
Worked out of the box using latest Proton and Eggroll
Have not found a work around for Ultrawide monitor users. In full screen, the game becomes compressed.

Played for an hour and a half - tutorials and some story mode runs, not online play. No audio/video issues; Dualsense input worked fine.
6.13-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-GE allows in-game videos to play properly. 6.13 isn't the newest version, just what I had installed; 6.18-GE and newer contain HID changes that may impact controller support.
Dualshock 4 controller doesn't work without running through steam big picture.
