OP/ED videos now work perfectly when using GE-Proton9-11 (GE proton version downloaded through ProtonUp-Qt, available on the deck Store)
It now DOES NOT NEED ANY FLAGS to run besides specifying GE Proton version under Properties (I only tested the latest GE proton 9-11 version listed above). First time opening might take a while as it generates the require files and cache; WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH. you may have to open it more than once if nothing opens after the first time.
Seamless afterward.
It was glorious.

wrok perfect with GE-Proton9-5. OP/ED can play without install anything.

install directshow and wmp11
In Steam Deck Desktop Mode with fullscreen, moving the mouse cursor to top menubar may cause the mouse click not working. Using Alt-Tab to switch to other windows and then switch back to the game can fix this problem.
Use Proton 9.0-1 and install directshow and wmp11 to play OP and fix flowchart alignment problem. (install directshow and wmp9 can play OP, but cannot fix flowchart alignment problem)

GE-Proton9-5 has added fix for the game, OP can play without install wmp9. However, it takes a while to launch for the first time.

Official Layout (Gamepad with Joystick)
Modification:
- Right trackpad as Mouse
- L2 button set to None
Long text will get a lot smaller
Flowchart "selected" route border is misaligned
FPS would drop when fast forwarding
- OP/ED will not play and will just show black screen and will be skipped automatically
- The backward button will "freeze" the game and goes backward until it reach the start of the chapter
Steam Deck OLED + Game mode | Proton 8.0-5

Worked for me
Flow chart is off alignment
I was able to play this with the patch install. The flow chart is off and can get a little hard to follow, but otherwise the experience was issue free.

Worked out of box
Used proton 8.0-4 and it gave me no issues

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
install wmp9

Install wmp9 to play OP

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Install via protontricks:
- wmp9
Refresh Rate:
- 60 hz
Thermal Power (TDP) Limit:
- 5 Watts
Windowed mode may crash the game (when hovering the top menubar)
Frame drop will occur when playing in Gaming Mode

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
install wmp9
In Desktop Mode with fullscreen, when moving to the menubar, the game may freeze.
Install wmp9 to play OP

As long as you play in fullscreen and don't reveal the top panel, everything will be fine, but I personally wouldn't recommend it to others.
Showing the top panel (by pressing alt or moving your cursor up) causes the game to glitch out. If you do this too much on KDE Plasma it can even crash your entire desktop.
Fullscreen works fine, but on windowed absolutely not. The window flashes between black and white. The game kind of works so setting the game to fullscreen is possible. The flickering is capable of crashing the desktop as well.
Sometimes when the game crashes the desktop, it will refuse to start again until I restart the whole computer.
Unlike other reports, on proton GE you don't need to install wmp11 for movies to work. At least I didn't need to.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

Install wmp9 to play OP

Took me a while to figure out how to make it work with Wine in Lutris (without Steam and Proton)
protontricks wmp11
Lutris: changed game configuration - enable "System settings" > "Disable Lutris Runtime", otherwise the game will only launch if "System settings" > "Prefer system libraries" option is disabled (audio will be broken though)
Only with "Enable Lutris Runtime" option enabled
I used the Wine executable from Proton 5.0-10 and the GOG version of the game

WINEARCH=win32 %command%
winetricks fontsmooth=rgb" & "winetricks ffdshow quartz wmp11 d3dx9 dotnet35 vcrun2003 vcrun2005 vcrun2008 vcrun2010 vcrun2012 vcrun2013 vcrun2019" (these are probably not necessary)
When app in fullscreen and switched to another widnow screen blinking is present
I have fixed the align problem in flowchart and hopefully other problems by switching to 32-bit wine runtime
30 mins in, a video needs to play, and instead shows garbage followed by a black screen.
Use wine D3D for it to work properly (otherwise black screen) along with proton version mentioned(for me it worked this way) and wmp11 OP/ED
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
protontricks 1277930 wmp11
Have fun!
Everything works. Videos play properly. Use proton 5.0-10 and use protontricks to instal wmp11
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
protontricks 1277930 wmp11
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% will fix blank screen.
Use protontricks 1277930 wmp11 CANNOT get video to work in proton 6.3
Misalignment of components will appear in the flowchart.
The upper menubar may have flickering problems, just close it on the right.
In my ArchLinux, only proton 6.3, or higher version, is useful to run this game. wmp11 will not work in proton 6.3.
Works well on Proton 5.0-10, video require protontricks install wmp11 (potentially require chmod 666 on files during wmp11 install).
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
will get around blank screen
protontricks 1277930 wmp11
do note that sometimes this might require you to chmod 666
several 'permission denied' files and I've tested that this fails for some reason or another on proton versions higher than 5.0-10.
The game does not play well with maximization and minimizing from Windowed mode on my Manjaro GNOME (38). It does not play well with fullscreen as well on Proton 6.3 and higher.
The game does not seem to play well with Proton versions higher than 5.0-10. Proton 5.13 and proton-ge seems to have problems with installing wmp11 via winetricks for this game - Proton 6 and up is outright unstable with the game's windowing/fullscreen. Proton 5.0-10 does not raise any issues once you have installed wmp11.
use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to get past initial blank screen.
Install wmp11 with protontricks 1277930 wmp11 to get the movies to work, otherwise they will be skipped. Game still runs fine though, could be skipped if you don't care about movies (OP song, ED song).
Proton 4-11, works perfectly with no issues
Everything works (including videos) if you install wmp11 and use the workaround mentioned
This is necessary to get the game to show instead of starting in a black screen. Alternatively, to get the game to show without the argument, launch it, click yes/no on the Direct3D error that shows up, and once it reboots, press ALT to open the top menu which should fix the black screen
Use protontricks 1277930 wmp11 to get videos to work
Everything outside of the opening (which should be the only movie in the game) not playing works perfect if you use the workaround given
This is necessary to get the game to show instead of starting in a black screen. Alternatively, to get the game to show without the argument, launch it, click yes/no on the Direct3D error that shows up, and once it reboots, press ALT to open the top menu which should fix the black screen
Opening/movies do not play

BLACK SCREEN AT LAUNCH
Booted up the game and the menu seems to be working but I cannot see anything. I can hear the audio of the game and I can hear that I can select through the menu, there is just nothing that is visible.
