Beat the game twice, currently chasing achievements. No issues or crashes. Achievements have unlocked fine for me so far.
Works great, on par with Windows except for 1 bug
Mods disabled on every startup. Have to acknowledge and enable every time.

The Ubisoft launcher will ask for your password every time. The game doesn't seem to inhibit screensaver so during cutscenes my screen would dim or turn off. Added the launch option to force performance mode.
Controller issues on startup but playable after
Game doesn't properly detect controller on startup and can't switch from keyboard in input settings. I switched to Steam Input but it still doesn't detect properly until after I start a race, after which it works perfectly. Other games don't have this issue so not sure how to get the controller working before startng a race.

Using the in-game FPS limiter causes mouse aim to be nearly unusable. It's like it's emulating a joystick or touchscreen so it feels inconsistent and the x and y axes seem to have different sensitivities. You can leave it uncapped or cap a different way like Mangohud. I finished 100% capped at 238fps that way. Luckily I didn't notice too many issues at high FPS. Seems to make a few sounds play too frequently (rain sounds sped up for example) and sometimes peds do a similar winded animation as the player does after sprinting but it didn't impact anything for me.
At one point I did install the Fusion Mod that skips the intro, adds the ability to quicksave anywhere, disables first person aiming for the M16, allows you to resize the HUD, and supposedly fixes a mouse aim issue but it was only fixed for me when I disabled the in-game FPS limiter as described above. This mod is the reason for the DLL override.
Set Windows version to 10 due to the launcher not supporting 7 and 8. Installed a DLL (d3dx9_43) for FusioFix.
If you do or install nothing else, at the very least cap your FPS to 60 to avoid issues/crashes mostly during missions but it can affect the freeroam experience too such as peds repeatedly stumbling into things instead of being able to walk around them.
Highly recommend using FusionFix. Requires a DLL override for the included dinput8. Makes the game more playable on PC.
IndependenceFM only plays about 20 seconds of each song. It depends on Windows Media Player, so to fix use a custom proton like ProtonGE or proton-cachyos that includes it or install it with wine/protontricks (wmp11).
I've been playing for several hours with FusionFix and an unrelated trainer. No crashes, no problems. IndependenceFM sometimes glitches out and makes an annoying noise instead of playing a song but I haven't narrowed down the cause and could be an issue on my end.
Splitscreen only available with a mod but it works very well if used as intended. Minor issues if playing with more than 2 players on games that don't support it and H2A anniversary graphics don't work but that's not the game's fault.
First time on latest stable Proton launched and played fine but the end of my second match resulted in a black screen. Switched to experimental and have not had problems since. Note: Every startup will warn you your Windows and driver versions are outdated but you can continue and play.
Played singleplayer on and off and multiplayer in a friend's world for a few hours and didn't experience any issues.
SteamDeck=1 %command%
Game plays fine. Voice chat doesn't work in the lobby (can't hear other players or speak to them) but works in a job. Adding the launch option SteamDeck=1 %command% works to enable voice chat in the lobby.
-vulkan
Running native without launch options had my cursor offset from where the game detected it (cursor had to be about 2 inches right of anything I selected in the menu)
On launch with 2 monitors the game was displayed on the secondary monitor and the game resolution combined the width of both (Both 1440, one ultrawide = 6000x1440)
Adding -vulkan to the launch option resolved the mouse cursor being offset. If you have multiple monitors, just Super+Shift+Left/Right to get it onto your primary monitor if it's not there and check your resolution. If you only have 1 screen and navigate the menu with keyboard or gamepad this will likely work well out of the box.

I set the launch option due to KDE Plasma dimming or eventually turning off my screen due to not detecting mouse/keyboard input (I play with controller) and this game doesn't seem to inhibit screensaver like others do. Not everyone will experience this. On launch all settings were automatically maxed out. Had a brief minor slowdown in Mission 3 while fighting over an airfield. I since turned down the resolution scale and cloud distance to see if it helps. Again, not everyone will experience an issue like this depending on your own settings.

I added the launch option due to the screen dimming or turning off while playing with a HOTAS. Playing with KBM or gamepad doesn't have this issue.
Played over 4 hours straight with friends. Mic worked right away. No crashes.
I don't use mod.io but manually installing mods works well too
Switch to Proton
The native version runs fine except the Leader Pass and Julius Caesar are not available on Linux. Proton enables them to appear in the mod menu and work in game.
