All in all, runs perfectly as you'd expect
Sometimes on loading screens it freezes my entire pc for a few seconds, nothing that you can't deal with, but it might be annoying if your pc loads slowly
Works flawlessly so far
Multiplayer worked like a charm, even though my friend played from windows, we were able to play together
Tried different proton version - None worked
At the first few tries, there was an error message about a Compatibility tool error, but after a few tries it kept crashing on start-up Later on for some unknown reason it started up but didn't let me log in, saying it was the "Bad game version" And now it's back to crashing on start-up
Overall with the proton switch it is totally playable, runs well and doesn't crashes at all!
With Proton 7.1 the cursor did NOT get locked into the window, so on a dual - triple monitor setup I could drag the cursor to the other monitors as I was looking around, which is to say the least not ideal. But switching to Proton 5.13-6 fixed this issue and now it's all good
Sadly with this many crashes, I couldn't even enjoy the game, so I highly doubt that like this a typical gamer would or could enjoy it.
Sadly, I tried with many many proton versions, and on all of them it crashes after cutscenes, after entering - leaving interriors and stuff like that. At this point I think it's more likely to be the game's fault itself. But with framelimiter, it lasts a bit longer, tho still crashes after a few missions, so save as often as you can!
Runs out of the box (except the fullscreen thing which I hope somehow will be worked around in the future)
Fullscreen locks down your pc, not being able to do anything but in windowed runs perfectly
Even tho it technically works, it's not a good experience, but it may only come from my setup and work just fine on others
On wider roads and in open areas, the game dropped to really low frame rates, under 30fps
Needed to change to an older Proton 6 from Proton 7 because on Proton 7 it was lagging heavily on wide streets and open spaces
It would be completely fine without tinkering too, if that damn lagging wouldn't be there! Because the game runs the same and looks the same in menus so there is no difference there. But I had to switch back to Proton 6.3-8 to enjoy the game!
Runs just fine
Sometimes in open areas it lags a little, but in handheld mode it's not noticable.
Overall really enjoyable experience.
I tried it a bit ago, but from other reviews it's still the same. You can get into games and maybe even play one till the finish, but usually it crashes or kicks you out to the main menu, near the beginning of matches or mid-match, so you can barely make it through any matches
With Proton 7 the game just ran flawlessly, no tinkering with Proton GE versions, no nothing It runs just as well as it would on windows
My pointer turned invisible for a bit when I tried to alt tab or just drag it out of the game, but it was fixed shortly after, so it's probably a one time thing
Excellent out of the box, but you will need to enable proton to be able to play
Since Rocket League has a Linux version that basically makes you download the game to tell you it's discontinued, you'll need to enable proton in order to play it! But once you do, it should just work right away. I have played with proton 6.3-8 and I had no problems, but with proton 7 it should 100% work!
Runs out of the box, and didn't need to tweak anything
Crashing
Sadly after switching from steam's proton to GE proton it was better, because the videos now actually load, but after like half a minute, it would close it self I wasn't able to finish even the tutorial.
Without the launch-option you can't launch the game, cuz it wouldn't be able to install, due to size limitation.
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
Installing add-ons is a bit more difficult than on windows since you need to dig up the documents folder, but it's doable and the game runs like a charm
When trying to launch the settings, it wants me to update to a newer version, which can't be done because it only gives and .exe file, but also it can't perform the graphics performance test But overall you can change every settings, but with annoying pop-ups every time
Works almost flawlessly, if it wouldn't be for the settings
Plays just as well as it does on windows, maybe even better since it crashes often to one of my friend and so far I haven't had any crashes
Sadly the game doesn't work without THIS SPECIFIC version of Proton-GE
