I bought it in a bundle with all its DLCs (expansions). After doing the Launcher.exe rename trick it started up but didn't go further than mod checking. I had to enable all DLCs since then it runs great. At times it lags a bit.
I did it as user Kraka | Alecks described it below: (0. I had disabled Steam Overlay)
- Install the game (and Proton 4.11-9)
- Run following command inside a (Linux) terminal: "WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/65540/pfx/ winetricks directmusic" The Path may vary, depends on where you have installed your games.
- Run the command in the (Linux) terminal: "WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/65540/pfx/ winecfg" 4.Go to Libraries tab, in existing overrides search for 'dsound', select it and press remove button.
- Enjoy the game!
The videos are just black screens with sound.
A few months erlier the game would not start at all on this machine. Today it finally started and crashed with the well known "Access violation Error message". After doing these mentioned steps the game runs and it's totally enjoyable. It runs just like on my laptop with Endless Os (Linux distro) see my report below. The funny thing is that my laptop was able to run this game for a year without any tweaks.
Runs ok. Minor issues: videos don't play only their sound; the whole screen is about 20px down (statusbar size on Windows) leaving a silver area from the menu on the top of the screen but you can see everything; a bit slow: kind of like wee lags. All in all: playable and enjoyable.
Runs well lately, after I disabled Steam-overlay and set best performance using the left arrow key on the specific option. Ever since it runs just like on windows. However the cinematics are not working. But FPS and other issues solved. I played 8 hours did many quests, visited all camps with no crashes and absolutly smooth performance. Note: I didn't install any patch, I just run the game as it came from Steam.
I recommend: disable Steam overlay and select the best performance option in the menu (using the left and right key on performance settings in the options menu)
Runs out of the box.
I tried both versions (standard and cpt_1.75 from the Steam betas) and they work perfectly. I played in English initially, now I'm playing in French. Everything works as it did a year ago on this very same computer but under Win7.
Works well. I have the leatest version of proton (4.2-3). In the launcher I set Display Mode to 1280x720 dpp and 3D Device to Wine D3D Device using WineD3D and OpenGL. Finished the first 4 levels without any problem. Runs just like it did back then on Windows Xp.
I tried everything (D3d11, Esync etc.). The Launcher does show up the Analyze computer option gives and error message that DirectX Dignostic Tool not found. Clicking on Play a blank screen comes for a few secs then the game quits (this reminds me of GTA: SA on 3x ver of proton).
If you can navigate blindly in the main menu...
Main menu is just a blank black screen. However if you can navigate blindly (press enter many times), when entering the Mission selector it works fine.
If you can navigate blindly in the main menu (just press enter). Quitting: In the main menu wait till the lightsaber sound is played then press the up key once then enter. Wait for the R2 sound then press right once and enter.
I sumbited a fix request to this title on Proton's Github page, please do it as well.
Crashes immediately: "Failed to Initialize Steam API"
Game crashes on start and gives this message: "Failed to initialize Steam API. Make sure that Steam client is running". (I bought this game yesterday here on Steam, I always start all of my games here from the Steam client)
Runs smoothly. Multiplayer doesn't seem to be working (yet I had issues with that on Windows as well).
Completed the all missions in the trail. Worked absolutly fine just like on Windows. Multiplayer (of any kind) dosen't work (therfore GOLD), yet if you're only into the single player stuff it's a solid PLATINUM.
