if it weren't for the missing online events, the native port would be just fine, but Proton works just fine, so use that
mangohud %command% -openxr
Framerate capped at 45fps despite GPU not maxed out for seemingly no reason (in VR)
Menus do not display in VR, requiring you to check your monitor when paused or starting the game (game view freezes in headset when paused, take caution if you get motion sick easily)
With a Quest 2 using ALVR, VR is also doable for this game, but it'll be a bit bumpy. (in fairness, I don't remember it being flawless on Windows either). Remember to change the beta track to Oculus
minor flickering in the menu, not in-game
annoying stutter in the beginning of Xen, went away eventually. could be my fault, not sure if the Vulkan shaders were fully processed
game crashed when changing the resolution, only once
Menu UI wasn't visible in 7.0.1 for some reason, no issues in Experimental
couldn't tell if it was part of the game or a me problem, but the clicking was faint enough for me to quickly tune it out
Runtime used: Monado (did not test SteamVR) HMD: Valve Index
mangohud %command% -vulkan
It'll sometimes work if it's in a good mood, but it usually crashes at startup. Adding -novid
to the launch options helped it launch the first few times, then it would start crashing again after a few more tries. Then after removing novid
it would work for a bit, then it would start crashing again, It's never consistent
The few times I could actually open the game, there were basically no issues with playing
Proton does not work here, native is the way. I forced the compatability tool to Steam Linux Runtime, but whether that helped or not is hard to say, it usually crashes regardless. If I have enough patience, it'll work after a few times of clicking play
mangohud %command% -vulkan
not sure what happened, but I can open it pretty consistently now, which is nice, crashes are less often than initially playing a few weeks back, which is nice
My previous rating was a bit harsh, it runs pretty consistently now, but still not totally perfect
It "runs", but it slows everything on my PC to an absolute crawl, basically forcing me to hard restart my PC
extremely brief moments of smoothness, but otherwise a painfully slow and stuttery experience
I ran it under Proton 6.3-6. I might have better luck with ProtonGE, but I'm not gonna test it right now
A mostly solid experience from start to finish
limited TDP to 8
framerate issues in last 2 chapters
the last 2 chapters of the game is where the framerate starts to wheeze (not unplayable, just not ideal, 40hz mode might help, but your milage may vary). Otherwise you can expect a fairly consistent 60fps at 800p at even high settings on Vulkan (Though I hear OpenGL may actually bring better results)
You need this as a variable
PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME= /home/<user>/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime/
and take EasyAntiCheat
in the game's folder and copy it into DeadByDaylight/Binaries/EGS/
don't let the silver rating scare you, this runs great OOB
intro cutscene doesn't work in Proton 7.0 or experimental. And with Proton-GE, the cutscene works but is mangled. Nothing game breaking though
joined a quickplay match to check, no noticeable issues.
this game works on all versions of Proton I've tested. that being 7.0, Experimental, and GE
Native port is perfectly acceptable for the most part, however the game seems to handle device resuming more gracefully when under Proton
Limited TDP to 3 and GPU freq to 200Mhz
(only on native Linux version) Game audio would continue playing on speakers instead of BT headphones after wakeup
this game could run on a potato, so battery life is great. The native port is fine, though for my usecase, Proton seems to be the better option
If you're doing something more funky like using the 64bit version, or you're joining servers with certain quirks, you might run into issues like others. But as a guy that simply plays PropHunt or TTT with friends from time to time, this has been a very smooth experience
Did it for the science since I heard news of it working on latest GE on AMD, looks like it's only for AMD
black window, then crash. Second verse, same as the first. Will come back to test on later Nvidia driver
usually crashes about 10-20 seconds after the start of a match
again, crashes near start of the match
don't know if it was the updated Nvidia driver or renaming videos folder to something else, but it actually boots
some tutorial clips didn't show, par for the course with Unity games under proton
didn't even need to think about it, I could just play
DXVK_HUD=compiler,fps,frametimes,pipelines %command%
1440p Max settings generally saw 100+fps, but would dip to about 50-ish fps while in the train. Not unplayable, but the dip may be worse on weaker hardware
Servers are junk currently, but that seems to be a universal problem with the game. Performance dips while in the train, but nothing major
DXVK_HUD=compiler,fps,frametimes,pipelines %command%
Easy Anti-Cheat was added as of 07-24-23. However it appears to be the EOS variant and does not get in the way of us playing.
framerate starts to struggle when switching the visor mode on the map, otherwise just fine
reports on this game are scarce, so the jury's out on whether the VR mode works nowadays, your milage may vary.
It works, if all you wanna do is play offline, but online is kind of the only way to play this game
mangohud %command%
Performance is less then desireable given the hardware, but enough to be playable. Mangohud wouldn't work on this game despite adding it in the launch options, but with my naked eye, it was somewhere in the 20-30 FPS range
couldn't even get into a match, just told me the servers were down, though that might not be a proton issue.
might report back if the servers ever come back up, but even if they do, the game is kinda dead
Proton versions tested: 7.0-1, Experimental. (Could only test demo, so that's probably why ProtonDB thinks I don't own it)
It's just a basic Unity game, you should have no issues running this
Although trying to to look at the tutorials, the TVs would just display static.
