Works great by using luxtorpeda to play openxcom

Default settings missing ESC key which can get stuck in some screens.
Better with some tinkering

don't bother with the steam version which uses dosbox use openxcom it runs at higher resoulutions fixes most of the bugs of the original game and has plenty more cool features like modding support a tutorial on how to install is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_L9AkSHpLs&t=270s
This launch option will force Steam to use OpenXcom source port to run the game. Simply copy-paste folder location containing OpenXcom AppImage executable from "https://openxcom.org/git-builds/". Include %COMMAND% at the end.
For example, I put the AppImage package into default installation folder. The launch option will look like this:
"/run/media/mmcblk0p1/steamapps/common/XCom UFO Defense/OpenXcom_86-64.AppImage" %COMMAND%
Follow this guide to set up the game: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2973533616
The guide works for both original XCOM and Terror From the Deep.
Personal binds and layout. This is user preference.
This report is the same as my report for X-COM: UFO Defense. When OpenXcom is installed, you have to change the game manually within OpenXcom Mods menu. OpenXcom makes the game 100 times more enjoyable.

Mouse and menu acting weird suddenly swift to deployment screen and freezes

With Proton the game has very high input lag and crashes when Steam Overlay is turned on. With steam-dos (https://github.com/dreamer/steam-dos), game works perfectly. Turn on MIDI by running SETUP.EXE and setting General MIDI and port 330 (this game has amazing music).

Runs completely stable, but mouse movement causes some stutter on a clean install. Setting cpu cycles to 10000 in "dosbox.conf" improves it, but mouse movement still causes some minor lag. Other than that it seems playable.

Some visual glitches, bad audio and crashes.

Works perfectly, no issues

Runs well

This is a DOSBOX port. Weird graphical corruption on the first menu screen, then it freezes at the mission deploy screen.
