I played the free Java-based beta version on Linux years ago. Never had any problems. Unfortunately, the Steam version I bought doesn't work on Linux. I've tried every Proton version, including Proton GE. Nothing worked. Even "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" made no difference. Sometimes I get an error message saying that Mono should be installed, but when I click on Install, it doesn't work. Don't buy the game if you use Linux, save yourself the frustration. It's a real shame, I'm returning the game.
