it works ok with the limitations of no transparency and what not. if you're using KDE you can go into Window Rules settings add a new one and choose Window class (application) exact match = steam_app_3416070 and add the keep below other windows property set to force = yes. that way it's more like it's on your desktop just with a black background. should be like this:

The game runs, but it only runs as fullscreen and with a solid black background. This defeats the entire purpose of the game.
The background is completely black instead of transparent.
Even when launching the game with windowed options, the game runs at full screen.
Since this is an idler game that's suppossed to run over your other programs as you're doing other things, the fact that this game will only run in fullscreen mode and with a solid black background instead of the desired transparent background, I would say that this game is not acceptable as having to Alt+Tab back and forth to this game defeats the entire point and purpose of it.
Until transparency is fixed, this game is fundamentally broken in my opinion.

Background is black so island floats over a void, but very manageable.
The game with some versions of proton won't launch, for me it didn't launch with proton experimental, and fullscreen is a little weird on proton 9.0-4 but works flawlessly on proton 8.0-5

Game starts full screen even with -windowed
in launch options and does not show the desktop, only a black background but is otherwise playable. This does degrade the idea of having a cute idler and doing other things.
The forced black background is annoying but the game is playable. Proton Experimental would not allow install. I did not try 9.x or lower but switched to Hotfix and it worked.
Shows a Black Backround but its playable

Everything works as expected except for the black background.
Turns the whole background of display to black.
Great, works smoothly, black screen issue is managable.

Doesn't hover over the desktop, but the core game still works. Buy at your own discression
