Finished the story mode with Proton 8.0-3 without major issues (just one I commented below)
Not sure if it's a Proton bug, but sometimes after finishing a race on the Story mode the game would not go back to the stage screen (just keeps displaying the race)
Multiplayer was mostly OK. One time I experienced some noticable lags as seen in glitched opponent's movement, but the connection remained stable.
Comparing to my previous report playing Windows version via Proton works better than the native build when you have multplayer in mind.
If you don't have interest in multiplayer you can still play the native version without any issues.
Inviting to lobby or joining other players' lobbies does not work. No multiplayer at all under SteamOS native build.
Game is perfectly playable until you decide to get multiplayer achievements. Then one of your options is going to Windows. Or trying Proton (which I haven't yet).
