I'm on arch so it may work right from the box under mint or pop but under arch I had to use experimental proton instead of 9.0 otherwise I would black screen midway through my playthrough.

Tinker Steps:Switch to older version: 9.0-3
On "default settings" the startup took around 1-2 minutes until I saw the main menu. Opening the "options" in-game took around 3-4 Minutes (game freezed completely). After choosing Proton 9 everything was fine, startup times are just a few seconds and it is playable.
