After the latest proton experimental update the game works like fine wine. There isn't any problem.

The game starts as expected and loads the starting screen. You press "New Game" and after the first cinematic the screen freeze.
You have to choose "New Game" at the first boot to create your saved file game. At the second boot you have to choose "Continue Game". After those steps everything works as intended.
As a previous Steam Deck user posted, using Proton 4.11-13 allows the game to boot and reach the menus. Then. the game was able to detect my old cloud saves, all text was legible, and controller support was working fine.
I have played nearly 90 minutes of the game on my Deck so far with zero crashes or stability issues. I recommend this on Linux/Steam Deck as no further tweaks were needed beyond changing the Proton version.
Game does indeed start and get to the title cinematic, but hangs on a black screen. Haven't tested using a save game to start it.

Long black screen after start the game, just wait for Rebelion logo. Then, the game will get stuck trying to loading the fisrt level. Although a savegame can be laoded without problem. A fisrt level save game was placed and the game started from the save game and the game ran smoothly.
