Had issues on native with fullscreen only rendering quarter of the screen and not allowing to alt-tab out of it, and also controller not working. Switched to Proton and everything worked perfectly.

I'd hazard a guess that non-GE proton also works fine, I just hadn't noticed until now that I'd selected a GE version.
Native popped up with a window for a tenth of a second, then closed immediately.
