Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental
You have to install the C++ files before playing. I had proton 5.0-10 and the install failed. I switched Proton 7.0-5 and it installed with out any isuses. Played a full game and it ran perfectly!

Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental, Changed configuration
You have to launch the game from desktop mode, it will give an error about missing C++, you can install it from the dialog in desktop mode, but not from SteamOS. Once you install the C++ files from within desktop mode, it launches within SteamOS without issue.
