No issues running Vanilla. Booted fine, ran well, could use joystick and peripherals with. Will not run mods, tested BAT and VP. BAT crashes immediately with no errors and VP crashes when on the initial loading screen.

Installs, but won't start.
With Proton 7x and lower, Steam shows it as Running. But the game never actually starts. It shuts down cleanly though. :
With Proton 8x and up, it just stays on Launching. I have to kill the process to end it. :
I've tried changing the conf.ini file as per some forums, but it's made no difference. :
I've also tried Glorious Eggroll versions of Proton with the same results as above. :
I've got some hardware on order and will be doing a fresh install of Mint 21.2. I'll try it again then. (Currently on Mint 20.3)

The correct screen resolution was not automatically detected. With the game closed I needed to set my screen resolution in the conf.ini file which is found in the .../steamapps/common/IL 2 Sturmovik 1946/ directory

(GOG version) Works well
Played GOG version with Proton 7.0-1.
Works Perfectly, better than Windows ..
Logitech 3d Joystick works fine, but the Aircraft crash sometimes, I think there's a nut loose behind the Controls ...

Unknown(> 10 hours with Proton)I ran into some issues when I plugged in both a 360 controller and the Logitech 3d pro joystick. Steams controller service seems to have issues when you plug in a 360 controller, then unplug it and plug in the joystick only. Linux probably really needs it's own controller manager utility. Other then that, this game works perfectly.
