No issues
Works great bar the very minor ui issue
UI is slightly misplaced on the 16:10 screen
I 100%'d Spark 2 on this machine, fully on Linux since there is no cloud saves. The game is enjoyable.
Alt-Tab freezes the game / black screen
Game fully playable, stable at 65FPS - 75FPS; Windows runs at 144FPS
I previously played just the main story fully on Windows. I 100%'d Spark 2 on this machine, fully Linux since there is no cloud saves. This means all "Tour" extra game modes, all score medals, all speed medals, all art. The game caps FPS at 65FPS if Vsync OFF My monitor is 144Hz, so with Vsync ON it tries, but ultimately fails and still maintains around 65-75FPS, regardless of resolution + graphical options. Bottleneck seems to be CPU related. Despite this it still feels great to play.
I tested this on the latest version (v1.5)
On a 60Hz monitor you will have a stable smooth experience at 65FPS. The performance on this game is not equivalent to Spark 3, which does not seems to have this 65 FPS issue and instead VSync ON hurts performance in that game. That is not the case in Spark 2.
Besides that workaround for Hyperath Fleet, the rest of the game runs just fine. Perfectly playable from start to finish with some caveats.
6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
As i said before, Wine D3D has some heavy performance impact, more than halving my frame rate. So use it only when needed then get rid of it.
Since one of the stages is basically unplayable without tinkering with settings, the game isn't really "enjoyable" from start to finish.
After completing the game on linux, i can confidently say that the default proton config will crash the game every time i try to play Hyperath Fleet, but only that stage in particular.
Runs just as well, if not a bit better, than 6.3-8. Not anything significant though since both run the game very well.
6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Performs surprisingly close to the Spark 3 demo i played on Windows a while ago, so there isn't any performance degradation.
Save from Windows is inaccessible.
Game runs flawlessly throughout most of the experience, but the last few stages experienced severe slowdown that I did not experience on Windows.
No tweaks needed, works perfectly, FPS is through the roof
The game runs relatively well after switching on Wine D3d11. Runs at a low frame-rate on my computer, and the Unity launcher doesn't appear, preventing you from changing the game's graphical settings. May work better on a more powerful system.
Runs perfectly, even on a Ryzen APU. Drop down to 720p to get 60FPS on hardware this slow, though.
